New project for My Period is Awesome Sweden

The campaign website for #periodproofed (#menssäkrad) launches today! The campaign culminates in September at the biggest cultural event in the Nordic countries – the Göteborg Book Fair.

Our end goal: #periodproof the restrooms in all work places, schools, and public places in Sweden by 2022.

A #periodproofed restroom provides:

  • A bin

  • Pads and tampons

  • Access to water (so a menstruator can manage their reusables)

Doing the right thing is easy!

#periodproofed started two years ago as the brainchild of Terese Lann Welin, the founder of My Period is Awesome. The question that motivated her was “Why don’t workplaces and schools provide menstrual hygiene products when 50% of the population need it?”

Since the start, My Period is Awesome Sweden has completed one major test of #periodproofed with successful results, held a number of sponsor meetings, and submitted a Vinnova application. All our successes and failures led us to where we are today. We are about to launch a campaign which in September reaches full force at the Göteborg Book Fair

Conclusion - NEVER give up!

The project is supported by Göteborg Book Fair and Tomorro’ Agency and it’s co-funded through the hard work of our volunteers.
