Creative Force project in collaboration with Wellbeing Foundation - Uganda

We are proud to introduce our creative project in Uganda that we are running with partnering organisation Wellbeing Foundation. Read more about Wellbeing here. The project is a two year Creative Force project funded by the Swedish Institute and we are targeting young people in Uganda with creative strategies to dismantle the social barriers for conversations about menstrual health and reproductive rights.

Wellbeing Foundation will work together with local artists, journalists and leaders to normalize the conversations and form partnerships with other local organisations in the region. Dancing, singing, rap, writing, painting and more will all be used as strategies to make it easier and more casual to talk about these stigmatised subjects.

“The ultimate goal of the project is to create a movement of #periodproud women and girls and #periodsupportive men and boys in Uganda. Were the people involved and the people affected by the project understand that period shame and period shaming affect girls and women's equal enjoyment of their human rights. We do this by teaming up with local agents of change and opinion leaders within the cultural sector.”
